What's Happening On Chapel Road? In just a few months, a beautiful Center for Community will be located at 855 Chapel Road. The Center for Community will be a gathering place for Colonial Point Christian Church and the local community to come together for events and activities. CPCC's Center for Community will be a place where kids and adults can play sporting events as well as attend educational and motivational activities. It will be a place where we work together to serve our community. Here’s the latest on what’s happening on Chapel Road: A Firm Foundation Great weather equals great progress. On March 25, 2010 half of the footers were poured. The other half will be done next week. Everyone loves to see progress.
Site Work Continues Perfect weather allowed our site contractor, Gerber Construction from Ellington, CT, to make excellent progress in two weeks time. As of March 19, 2010 the vast majority of the drainage system was in place and the road and parking lot are ready for their base. The only evidence of a large rainfall the weekend of March 13-14 was some water in the detention basin. Footers are being prepared for concrete that will arrive in the near future. Good infrastructure makes for a GREAT site. We have a GREAT site!
Ground Breaking - March 7, 2010 Pictures are worth a thousand words.
Tree Cutting On February 20th a group of guys from CPCC began clearing trees and brush in the general vicinity of the Center for Community. This work will continue for the next few weeks.
On March 1st the lumberjacks were replaced by the "machines." They made short work of what remained and by March 3rd the tree cutting and clearing was almost complete for phase 1.
CPCC’s Center for Community Ever wonder why millions of people join social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter? Part of it is our need for community. We need to be connected to others. Reality is, even though we live in a highly “connected” age, people still feel isolated and lonely. That’s why since 2000 Colonial Point Christian Church (CPCC) has been growing together as a real community where lives are transformed. We believe there are still tens of thousands of people in Central Connecticut who need and want what we have and now is the time to build a Center for Community. Growing Needs CPCC cares about every individual’s spiritual growth and continues to make a significant impact in Central Connecticut; however, we miss many people who do not view a middle school as a legitimate place for church. As strange as it may sound, every day people decide not to come to CPCC because we don’t have our own “church” building. People needing a personal relationship with Jesus and the benefits of a genuine community will continue to drive by until we build a Center for Community. If you are asking, “What will we be able to do with a permanent structure that we can’t do now?” The answer is grow more relationships with Jesus. The Bible does not say God needs four walls and a roof to be worshipped, but a permanent structure will remove barriers and allow for more growth to occur between one another and God. Growing in our relationship with God occurs whenever and wherever we allow it to happen, but having a Center for Community where reliable Biblical teaching and training is offered on a regular basis will benefit the youngest to oldest of God’s children. We also need a central location to cultivate relationships and grow as a community. Not having a 24/7 Center for Community truly restricts our ability to grow as a church. Growing Relationships
Our vision for community at Colonial Point Christian Church reaches across all ethnic and economic barriers. Growing a church that truly looks like the residents of Central Connecticut is not only our goal, it is our passion. Relationships grow when fertilized with grace regardless of skin color or bank balances. We believe providing a place where no one stands alone and everyone rests in the grace of Jesus Christ can be an answer to the growing tensions in our region. Everyone and every relationship is valued at Colonial Point Christian Church.
Growing Together Growing Together is a three year spiritual journey that will help us build our Center for Community and achieve all of the above and even more than we can begin to imagine. Growing Together will ask everyone who is a part of the CPCC community to prayerfully make a God-sized financial commitment that will help us make our vision reality. All Growing Together commitments are over and above our regular tithes and offerings. The CPCC Elders deem Growing Together absolutely necessary if we are to begin construction of our Center for Community. The combination of greater faith and finances will position the church for the ministries and service opportunities we envision lie ahead. The leadership stresses Growing Together is first and foremost a spiritual journey with stewardship implications. Our goal is not to simply raise money for our Center of Community, but to experience an exponential increase of faith within the CPCC community. Will you join us as we grow together as a church and with our community? Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. (Psalm 37:3-6)

A Center for Community is all about growing relationships. CPCC will use concrete, nails, wood and steel to build a structure that will become a tool that will be used to grow relationships. Relationships with God are the most important fruit we hope to grow on Chapel Road, but a close second are the genuine friendships that will naturally and supernaturally emerge at the Center for Community.
